They did it, Joe!
Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris and daughter of second gentleman Doug Emhoff, is reliving the viral meme moment when her "Momala" called President Joe Biden and said "We did it, Joe" following the pair's 2020 presidential election win against former President Donald Trump — with a fashionable twist.
And now, Emhoff marked has a buzzy political partnership of her own for the Democratic National Convention. She teamed up with TikTok-famous dress designer Joe Ando to design a chic off-the-shoulder dress, featuring a crochet flower detail on the left side and a drop waist for Day 4 of the convention.
Emhoff commented "WE DID IT JOE!!!!!" on a video posted by Ando.

Ando, who boasts over 2.7 million followers on Instagram and almost 3 million followers on TikTok, first teased the blue-and-white dress in a TikTok on Monday, telling fans "you'll see on national TV in three days." Then, on Thursday, he posted a video of himself watching Emhoff speak at the DNC with the caption "ELLA LOOKS SO GOOD."
Who is Ella Emhoff? What she said at DNC about Kamala Harris
On Thursday, before the vice president delivered her speech at the DNC, Emhoff spoke about her relationship with her stepmom alongside Harris' goddaughter Helena Hudlin and niece, Phenomenal founder Meena Harris.
"Kamala came into my life when I was 14, famously a very easy time for a teenager," she told the crowd. "Like a lot of young people, I didn't always understand what I was feeling but no matter what, Kamala was there for me. She was patient, caring and always took me seriously."
Emhoff continued: "She's never stopped listening to me and she's not going to stop listening to all of us."
In a 2019 article in Elle, Harris said stepson Cole was named after American jazz musician John Coltrane while stepdaughter Ella was named after American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald. Ella graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York City in May of 2021 and Cole got married to Greenley Littlejohn in October 2023. Harris officiated their wedding.
Ella Emhoff is the daughter of Kerstin Emhoff, the ex-wife of the second gentleman and a close friend and co-parent to the vice president. Kerstin Emhoff, an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, recently told CNN of Harris: "She is loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present. I love our blended family and am grateful to have her in it."
